Through our partnership with Tropicana Corporation, 4-H is able to supply all the necessary materials to conduct this very beneficial program free of charge, and it meets Sunshine Standards requirements in Language Arts.

 

Last year, more than 1,200 fourth- and fifth-grade Indian River students learned how to craft and deliver their own speeches. Ten schools participated and the school-wide winner was advanced to the countywide competition, which is conducted by the 4-H Office. Beachland Elementary took first place for fifth-grade, and Dodgertown Elementary took first place for the fourth-grade. Both speakers received scholarships to attend 4-H Camp Cloverleaf over the summer.

Beginning in November, 4-H’s multi-county partnership with Hydro-Fresh Farms provides for guided tours of the farm with interactive educational activities led by farm personnel, Extension faculty and volunteers.
