MASTER GARDENERSResidents of Indian River County have lots of questions about what to do in their landscape. Because there is only one extension agent in this county available to respond to these important inquires, the Indian River County Extension Service has nearly 40 trained Master Gardener volunteers interested in home horticulture. They are available to answer many homeowner questions about their Florida Yards. Questions that they can not answer are then referred to the agent, who in turn can ask for assistance from the University of Florida.
Persons who are interested in searching for on-line answers to many of their questions may want to visit the University of Florida's "EDIS" home page http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/ which includes a large selection of informational bulletins and pamphlets relating to the home landscape.
Volunteer Master Gardeners Clinics are held at our County Extension office in Vero Beach from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, and 1 pm to 4 pm, Monday through Friday. These experts can be visited in person or may be reached by telephone at (772) 770-5030. Remember these are volunteers that have other responsibilities and occasionally we may not be able to provide immediate assistance. Call first to insure that they will be available. Another clinic is held for residents living in northern Indian River County on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the North Indian River County Library, 1001 Fellsmere Road, in Sebastian. Also , on the The 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month from 10 am to 12 noon at the Environmental Learning Center (ELC), 255 Live Oak Drive, Wabasso. These 2 clinics are for walk-ins only - no telephone calls are available at either the Sebastian Library, or the ELC.
